Amway has a long history of environmental stewardship.

Since our founding in 1959, many of our products have been environmentally preferred and green.

This began with our very first product, Liquid Organic Cleaner (L.O.C.®), which was one of the first biodegradable cleaning products on the market.

Ever since this time, Amway has continued to design new products and manage our business around environmentally sound, sustainable principles such as our organic farming practices, waste management and packaging principles, and the use of sustainable and/or recycled resources where ever possible.


Amway approaches sustainability through our actions in the community, the environment and our products.

The company's goals cover major areas including reduced greenhouse gas, more alternative energy use, reduced water consumption, and less waste and increased recycling.

Other specific areas of commitment include reducing packaging content, making durable goods more recyclable and making products like laundry detergent more sustainable.

We make every effort to reduce, re-use and recycle wherever possible and importantly, we measure the impact of our efforts.

In Australia, Amway has cut greenhouse gas emissions by 680 tonnes a year through more efficient lighting, whilst water use has been slashed by 1.1 million litres annually. Amway Australia also recycles 99% of incoming shipping cartons and packages products in 100% recyclable materials.



At Amway, we believe that farming in accordance with nature is more sustainable and environmentally sound.

We have stewardship of 6,400 hectares of certified organic farmland.

The organic plants we grow provide plant concentrates for our Nutriway vitamins, multivitamins and supplements.

Our approach to organic farming blends cultural practices, land management and farm management to sustain the relationship between farming and nature.

We minimise practices such as tilling that tend to erode soil, and focus on those practices that support the micro-organisms and earthworm activity that support plant growth.

Importantly, we are committed to the preservation of habitats and have protected the natural ecological areas within farm boundaries to sustain the diversity of both native and animal plant species.



Amway strongly supports the responsible use of packaging and is a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant.

Extensive research has been conducted to determine the minimum amount of packaging that can be used to ensure safe transport and storage of Amway products.

Our packaging contains significant quantities of recycled materials. Even the biodegradable, wheat-based loose-fill beads that secure our products in transport cartons can be re-used.

As many of our products are concentrated, less packaging material is required than for conventional goods.

In Australia, 95% of the packaging sold with Amway products is readily recyclable. We maintain a high overall product/packaging ratio of around 2.35/1.



Since 1959, Amway has been committed to the highest environmental standards. Many of Amway’s products are environmentally preferred and green.

Many of our home care products are highly concentrated and organic, and many of our nutritional supplement ingredients are organically grown.

Our first product was Liquid Organic Cleaner (L.O.C), using only biodegradable cleaning agents in a biodegradable container.

This legacy of clean has continued with our concentrated products, saving in packaging and transportation costs.

We continue to pioneer our commitment to the environment with new, innovative production methods, packaging practices, product development and business management principles.
